Nicole Mericle won the first race of the 2021 Spartan US National Series in Jacksonville. Mericle showed she hasn’t lost a step since her Spartan World Championship year in 2019 with a dominating performance in the Spartan Sprint.

Mericle won the Jacksonville Sprint with a time of 27:46, nearly three full minutes ahead of Miriam Guillot-Boisset in second place. Mericle had a dominant performance all year in 2019 before the OCR world took a forced hiatus in 2020. She has only become faster and stronger since then.
Notably absent from the women’s field was Lindsay Webster. Webster and her husband Ryan Atkins were unable to travel to the race from their home in Canada due to COVID-related travel restrictions. Webster and Mericle are the “Two Towers” of Women’s OCR and the race world is looking forward to seeing them face off again when conditions permit.
