Tough Mudder announced their newest virtual race offering: The Equinox Ultra: Virtual Challenge.
Taking place on March 20th, 2021 the Equinox Ultra is a 12-hour virtual race on a five-mile loop of your choosing with an “obstacle” at the end of each lap. Tough Mudder HQ will announce the obstacle list one week before race day.
Past obstacles for Tough Mudder virtual events ranged from goofy activities such as blowing ping pong balls across water-filled solo cups to doing 100 squats underneath your running shower head. TMHQ has shown a desire to make the obstacles fun while also keeping them physically difficult.
The format for the Equinox Ultra is very similar to the virtual events Tough Mudder held in 2020. The main difference runners will notice is the time of the race. The Equinox Ultra will take place from 9:00am to 9:00pm Eastern time. With one exception, Toughest Mudder has always been held overnight, finishing at 8:00am.
The cost of the race is $35. Runners will receive exclusive Equinox swag including a finisher coin, cloth bib, and the brand new half blue/half orange Equinox headband. Runners who sign up by March 1st will receive their gear in time for race day on March 20th.
